Why Choose 1-to-1 Tutoring
The Bloom 2 Sigma Effect:
In 1984, renowned Educational Psychologist, Benjamin Bloom, made the observation through experiment that, on average, students who received 1-to-1 tutoring achieved better test scores than 98% with conventional classroom teaching. In mathematical language, the tutored students performed 2 standard deviations (2-sigma) than classroom students.
The experiment also tested the ‘mastery learning’ method, where students master each mathematical concept (or sub-topic and topic) before moving on to the next. This method resulted in students performing 1 standard deviation, better than conventional students; in other words better test scores than 68% of conventional students.
